Laura Marling | Secret Music
A portrait of musician Laura Marling I'm rather fond of, taken during her Secret Music show in East London.
I later found out that she wasn't hugely keen on this image, which whilst a little disappointing does happen every now and then. It's important as a photographer to understand the many elements involved in the preference of imagery. Portraiture like all photography is of course subjective, everyone involved is looking for different things from an image. My vision for a portrait might be totally different to that of the subjects.
I love the otherworldly set built by the SC team, they're an incredibly creative bunch. The idea with this image was to present Laura as a ghostly figure haunting the rooms and hallways of the Grand Eagle Hotel where her performances took place.
