Half Strange | Personal Work

Here's some new work I'm very pleased to show off.  I spent an afternoon shooting portraits with Antonia whom I'd worked with previously, photographing a few promo images for the FUZE event fundraiser.

The aesthetic beauty of ballet is like a magnet for photographers. Although it's something I've been wanting to photograph for a while, it was tricky coming up with ideas for images that are different from all the other very pretty staged ballet images out there.

I thought it might be fun to play on the refined and delicate nature of ballet, switching between quieter poised pics to loud and brash images, changing the light set-ups accordingly.

Whilst it's nice to have a consistent style it is sometimes tricky to mix it up and produce images outside of the go-to comfort zone. I'm really pleased with this set, helped by Antonia's striking appearance. The quieter studio shots look very celestial whilst the garish images are a bit of fun and something different for the portfolio.
