I've driven past the imposing steel works at Port Talbot hundreds of times whilst wondering exactly what goes on inside the post apocalyptic structures visible from the M4 motorway. I was lucky enough to photograph a job for the Welsh Government that took me inside the Hot Strip Mill, this is the part of the steel works where a 23cm thick slab of molten steel is transformed into sheets 2.5cm thick.

The steelworks is one of the most incredible places I've ever visited. It felt like an alien world, something out of the Ridley Scott movies.  Scorching heat, plumes of steam and molten metal. A truly unusual place to photograph.
