Finalist // Sony World Photo Awards

I’m delighted (and slightly stunned) that a little personal project of mine has been selected as a finalist in the landscape category of the Sony World Photography Awards. The work is a little different from my usual portrait and documentary photography and came into existence in part because of the Covid lockdowns. With all commissions cancelled and no one to photograph, I turned my attention to my love of trees - at first those within reach of my house and then later branching out (I thank you) further afield. I photographed the trees at dusk with the assistance of drones, which helped to create ethereal portraits of these grand subjects. It’s wonderful that something that began as a way to deal with a rough time career wise has turned into something so positive.
