Sigma 50mm f/1.4
On Monday I finally managed to cash in gift vouchers given to me nine months ago by my previous employers as a leaving present. Sadly the gift vouchers were for Britains worst camera shop 'Bristol (we've got no) Cameras ......or lenses', which is why it took me the best part of a year to use them.
A few years ago I would never have considered buying a Sigma lens and that is probably still true with most of their current line. They have a bit of a reputation for falling short in the quality stakes.
I had however heard extremely good things about the 50mm f/1.4 so I decided to take the plunge. I've not been disappointed, it's really rather splendid, especially on full frame and has become my go to lens for the last few editorial jobs. Sizewise it's a bit of a monster but it has a 77mm front element. This means it fits my current filters, including the ND filter, which has just come out of hibernation now that the sun is back, hooray.
Here are a few jobs I've shot this week where I've used the Sigma 50mm f/1.4.
