Metallic Leaf

Artist Ruth Winding creates "gilded backgrounds of metallic leaf upon wood, overlaid with hand-painted detailing" and rather pretty they are to. Photographing highly reflective gold leaf using lights has its own complications. Much like photographing someone standing in front of a mirror, you must always remember kids: the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence. A lot of time was spent getting the specular highlights on the canvas under control zzzzzzz.
