Port Talbot Steel Works

The announcement by Tata Steel to close the two blast furnaces at the Port Talbot steelworks will be a devastating blow to the community. The impending loss of nearly 3000 jobs and the ripple effect in the area is incomprehensible.

I've visited the imposing furnaces at the steelworks several times. It is unlike any place I've ever photographed—pure fire and brimstone, almost otherworldly. I hope to have the opportunity to return before it becomes a remnant from another time.
